Game Twenty-Six: Storm vs. Monarchs 27 July, 2008

The Storm end their pre-Olympic schedule on a strong note with a win over the rising Monarchs. The loss of Brunson in the second half was too much for the Monarchs to overcome. They took too large a beating in the fourth quarter, and despite a furious comeback, the Storm were able to clamp down defensively in the final moments and hit their free throws.

The Storm went 3-2 in the five games they were without their star player, Lauren Jackson, which is unheard of. If memory serves me they have only one two previous games total since LJ was drafted where she was unavailable. The success was largely due to the excellent play of Camille Little. She was able to be effective enough at both ends of the floor starting in place of Lauren to allow the rest of the players to have to step up their games only a small amount rather than completely replacing her scoring, rebounding and defense.
